Joining the Birthing The Future® Board
We call our Board of Directors the “ Board of Support ”, because that’s how our board functions, as real support for the office – collaborative thinking, guidance for the everyday workings of the organization, doing outreach to individuals and organizations, taking responsibility for bringing in some of our funding.
We have several openings for new board members for 2011 and are getting ready to put together a slate of candidates for the membership to vote on. Perhaps YOU would like to be a part of our board! If so, contact us.
What does the Birthing The Future® Board do?
Our Board furthers the work of the organization by doing planning and outreach and fundraising, and overseeing what the director and office are doing. If you’re interested, have some time, want to be part of a passionate “tribe” and feel you have special things you can contribute, write and tell us. For example, one of our board members designed and now runs our growing website as his contribution. You might have a talent that you bring, or just a willingness to jump in and do what’s needed in a variety of ways. Let your imagination run free. As an organization we are unique in our ability to act decisively and move quickly.
The Board meets via phone conference.
We always need networking, business expertise, good common sense, marketing and promotion skills, grant seeking and helping Suzanne write the grants…and more…if you, or someone you know has any of those talents, can’t be the board, but would love to participate in any of the above on a by-project, or as-needed, basis.
Once we hear from you about your interest, then we’ll let you know the responsibilities of board members And then, if you’re still interested, Suzanne – our founder/director – will personally contact you to chat and answer any questions. If elected by the membership, or selected by the current board, you will be able to choose either a 1-year or 2-year term.
